Using literature to teach English

On last Wednesday I attended a webinar by Daniel Barber ‘using literature to teach English’. Some points he mentioned in the webinar I really like to code it. The first point he said if teachers are not exposing the students to the literature, it means they are doing half of their job.

The second point was teachers should expose students less than their level. I totally agree with this point because I saw if students felt they are unable to read they will lose interest in reading.
In these days we all are suffering to create motivation in students. If new learners face problem in reading they will give up, on the same time if they can read easily they will feel good to read.
For children, learning to read is a challenge; this challenge is doubled when children are learning to read English as a second language. If teachers do not choose material wisely the challenge will be harder. It may lead to lose interest in learning English.
Teachers need to encourage students to read. To create interest in reading teachers should play reading games. Read aloud; ask students what are their opinions on certain books they are reading. Read from different books so often to help children to read different sentence structures.
As students skills improve, their interest in reading will improve too. Encourage reading is challenging, this is why it is imperative to positively encourage children to keep trying when teaching to read.
