Rapport and Correction

Rapport means creating a harmonious relationship with students. But the question is how you should correct your students and maintain rapport. If teachers correct students every time they speak run the risk of breaking down rapport. It may damage students' confidence too.
Rapport is building a connection with your students  based on positive for you. Some teachers, they are outstanding in creating rapport with their students, their students  remember them all over their life. When teachers successes to create rapport they will form a bond that makes classroom management a lot easier.
Many teachers have a hard time building rapport because they respond emotionally to misbehavior . As new school year started, my son who is student of Gr.6 he felt that his social studies teacher always waiting for him to do mistake in order to get a chance to punish him. I asked my son why do you feel your teacher wants to punish you. My son replied to me in his first class on some small things we giggled and he punished me .I believe this teacher  respond emotionally to misbehavior and showed frustration, a result he is failing to create rapport with his students. There is no trust or bond between him and his students.

Building rapport is creating trust with your students. Rapport does not mean teacher stop correcting students. It does not mean there is no respect for teachers. It means creating a positive relationship with students to encourage a learning environment where students feel free to interrogate and interact in the classroom. The teacher may correct with appropriate time and way. Students do want to have some of their mistakes corrected as it gives them a basis for improvement.
