Dar Jana international school Jeddah, conducted on 16 May one day learning disability workshop
for mothers delivered by Dr. Ghada Awada. She has a PHD in education and
learning difficulties.
Mrs. Ghada gave an introduction and
illustration what is learning disabilities, she used short videos, students
work at school, and she talked about different technology school has integrated
to help their students. Her important question was for all the mothers, Does
your child struggle with school? Does he or she dread reading out loud, writing
an essay, or tackling a math problem? While every kid has trouble with homework
from time to time, if a certain area of learning is consistently problematic,
it might indicate a learning disorder. By understanding all you can about
learning disabilities, you can ensure your child gets the right help to
overcome classroom challenges and succeed in life.
Dr, Ghada was encouraging mothers to
educate themselves about learning disabilities, so they can help their children
in the best way, and mothers help is always built confidence and self esteem in
children. Mrs. Ghada repeatedly focuses on the point that Learning disabilities, or learning disorders,
are an umbrella term for a wide variety of learning problems. A learning
disability is not a problem with intelligence or motivation. These words were
quiet, soothing for the mothers whose child may be suffering from learning
disabilities. She insisted most kids suffering from learning disabilities are the
smartest kids in the world. Their brains are simply wired differently. This
difference affects how they receive and process information.
It was a really bold step by the Dar
Jana International school to educate mothers about different learning
disabilities, It was a pleasant surprise to see Mrs. Fatin Ataya El- Saadi, principal of Dear Jana international school, was one of
the active participants in the workshop.
Dr.Ghada successfully delivered her
message to all mothers that children suffering from learning disabilities just need to be taught in ways that are
tailored to their unique learning styles. By learning more about learning
disabilities in general, and your child’s learning difficulties in particular,
you can help pave the way for success at school and beyond. Mothers should pay attention
to normal developmental milestones for
toddlers and preschoolers is very important. Dr. Ghada explains to mothers that
after you learn what their specific learning disability is and how it is
affecting their behavior, you will be able to start addressing the challenges
in school and at home.
